Eddy Shuldman: Putting It All Together!

Eddy Shuldman is the leader of ORA. She holds us all together, working a million behind-the-scene details like puzzle pieces, while tutoring kids and adults, and all the while creating inspiring art works of fused glass. Her latest piece is an ambitious combination of glass pieces and wood, which seems symbolic of her leadership style.
Eddy's glass work has been purchased and commissioned throughout the world, and we are so privileged to have her incredible energy guiding us. Come enjoy her spirit and her art this Sunday, November 3rd, at

Diane Russell: She's back!!!!!!!

Last year Diane was in Open Studios and couldn't participate in our annual Celebration of Art. She was sorely missed!

We are so pleased to welcome her back. Her paintings are vibrant, lively, and sometimes just a tad sassy! 

Her work demands to be seen in person. Street scenes come alive and  portraits do more than capture the individual's likeness...they tell a story!

Leslie Elder returns with new works of art!

If you scroll through this blog you will see many posts about Leslie. She is a water colorist who often can be found out in nature. She is an avid walker, cyclist and of course, painter!

Leslie paints judaic and secular themes, portraits that tell stories, as well as local flora and fauna.

Artworks Series: Local Potter Linda Bourne 

Visit the MJCC lobby to see Linda Bourne in action. She is an Oregon potter and native who has been creating various forms of pottery for more than 25 years. Her unique style is called Sculptureware and combines color clays with original curvalinear designs to create highly evolved and functional artwork for home and business.

EVENT 1:

Ellen Shefi will be participating in an unusual art show, Forest of Arts at Hopkins Demonstration Forest in Oregon City on the weekend of Oct. 12th - Oct. 13th.  It is a family friendly venue that will have indoor and outdoor art exhibits, kids activities, tours of the forest by foot and minivan, demonstrations and food.  Put on your hiking boots and bring the family and friends - free admission!  These beautiful forests are located 20 minutes south of Oregon City off Hwy. 213.  

EVENT 2:

Ellen will also return to the annual Celebration of Art at Mittleman Jewish Community Center on November 3rd.

Esther Liberman: an eye for the finer details!

"Root Work" by Esther Liberman

Esther Liberman approaches her work with an eye for details. The beads she often uses are tiny and the hand-eye coordination required for such meticulous work is hard to imagine.

I had the privilege of being on duty at a recent art sale when a customer spotted one of Esther's fabulous free form bracelets.  The customer put the bracelet on her wrist and.....it never went back into the case. It was the fastest sale I have ever witnessed!

That's how it is when you encounter Esther's beadwork! You will ask how she did it, but then you'll be too busy trying it on and admiring it...and purchasing it, to actually hear the answer!

ORA Takes a Field Trip To Portland Store Fixtures!!!!

Thank you Cat, owner of Portland Store Fixtures! I wish I had taken a better photo...but got caught up in the joy of our tour and only snapped off this one shot. A dozen members toured this fabulous store and began stocking up on supplies for our studios and for our sales booths!

We can't offer enough praise for this store. There is no place in pdx like it!!!!!! Great prices, a variety of displays, fixtures, racks, mannequins.....and more!

I'll be back in another week or two to get bags and boxes for wrapping my glass.
